Knox Trail Council hosts Wood Badge for the 21st Century Course in 2008
WHAT IS WOOD BADGE? For over 25 years Knox Trail, Mohegan, and Nashua Valley Councils collaborated to offer Wood Badge training to Scouting leaders from three councils. Knox Trail Council is pleased to invite you to join us at Resolute for Wood Badge for the 21st Century, Course NE-I-260. Prior to 2001 many leaders became trained through the Cub Leader Basic Scout Leader Basic Training courses, or through the Scoutmastership Fundamentals training. These leaders are qualified to attend Badge training. WHAT IS COVERED IN THIS COURSE? The central themes of Wood Badge are: • Living the Values: mission, aims,

The first is the practical phase, consisting of two three-day weekends at camp, plus one or two patrol meetings between the weekends. The second phase, the application phase, begins after the two weekends and consists of achieving goals that you have set, related to your Scouting position. Upon satisfactory completion of this phase, the Wood Badge award is presented. For over fifty years Scout leaders in the United States have completed an American version of Wood Badge. In 2002 the Boy Scouts of America launched Wood Badge for the 21st Century. The leadership skills and personal growth opportunities that are now part of the Wood Badge curriculum apply to all leaders in Scouting.
