The first step in processing ranks and awards for packs, troops, teams, crews, ships and posts is designating an adult to serve as the unit’s Advancement Processor. If you are not sure who your unit’s Advancement Processor is, consult with the unit’s Committee. If you have been assigned the responsibility of serving in this role for your unit, please contact our Council Registrar, John Fortini, to obtain your unit’s “Unit ID” code. This will be required for using Internet Advancement.
After gathering all pertinent information, including merit badge applications and accurately dated advancement records, the Unit’s Advancement Processor should log-on to the Boy Scouts of America Internet Advancement tool, found below, and follow the included step-by-step instructions.
Upon completing the online forms, the Advancement Processor will be prompted to print a Unit Advancement Report. This report must be signed by all applicable leaders and submitted to the Council Service Center. A copy should be saved in the Unit’s records.
Units should update advancement information monthly before the end of each month, or more often if needed. At a minimum, advancement information must be updated in December with a printed copy of the advancement report submitted to the Council Service Center by they end of the month.
