Open House
on Recruiting
August 19, 2009
Church of the Nativity, Northborough MA
7:30pm – 9:00pm
Tri River District will
be providing an Open House for Scout Leaders on August 19, 2009,
Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 PM, at the Church of the Nativity in
Northborough, MA. It is going to be a great session and we
recommend that all units send a representative or two.
The primary
purpose of the event is to empower successful recruiting
activities, whether they are Cub Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Town
wide, or Entity. We will provide the resources and experienced
leader’s knowledge to fuel your recruiting activities. We will
discuss unit level and City/Town multiple unit recruiting
activities. We hope to have Knox Trail Council’s Membership
Committee members to help in the discussion on successful
recruiting activities.
We will
provide new resources tailored for Cub packs and for Boy Scout
Troops. For Cub Packs we expect to be distributing the New Den
Leader Kits. You will get time to breakout with Scouting
leaders from your town/City during the session with the intent
to facilitate dialog across units to support town wide
recruiting events.
We will also
provide information of interest to units attending.
We will
provide an overview of what training sessions are coming up that
you can send your new leaders to for jump start training on line
and what other training will be available in the coming months.
We will
discuss and overview financing the unit program.
This is going
to be a packed agenda with time to ask your questions. We are
looking forward to seeing you there. We look forward to helping
you to provide a fun filled scouting program with new scouts and
new scout leaders /Parents taking part in the adventure.
Yours in
Scouting,
Steve Symes
Tri River District Chairman

2009 FRIENDS
OF SCOUTING FAMILY CAMPAIGN
‘It’s the journey, not the destination.’
For the
Packs, Troops, and Teams of Tri River have had Friends of
Scouting presentation for their Parents and Leaders, please
accept our appreciation. For Units that have not, to date,
scheduled a FOS presentation, we are asking your leaders to
contact your Unit Commissioner, District Commissioner, and/or
the District Chairman to schedule a presentation as soon as
possible. As a Scouting Parent, Unit Leader, and a Friend of
Scouting you may also make an online donation at
www.ktc-bsa.org.
We need
100% participation from all Scouting parents at whatever level
you decide on. If you are a past donor to Knox Trail Council,
please consider giving at that level or increase your support of
Scouting. All of the FOS donations to Knox Trail Council go
directly to supporting quality Scouts and your Scouts in Knox
Trail Council. We continue to support your values and the values
of Scouting that help Scouts develop in character, citizenship,
fitness, and leadership skills they will use for their entire
life.
It is most
important that all Scouting families are given the opportunity
to help in the financial support of the quality Scouting program
offered to all Scouts of Tri River District and Knox Trail
Council. It should be noted that the $11 registration and the
$12 Boys’ Life fees are all sent directly to the National Boy
Scouts of America. Knox Trail Council’s operating budget is
supported by contributions from the community and Scouting
families. We need the support of Scouting families in Tri River
District of Knox Trail Council. Your unit leader or committee
chairperson should contact Bob Wyman, District Director or Steve
Symes, District Chairman to set up a Unit Friends of Scouting
Family presentation during the months of June, 2009 or
September, 2009. Thank you.
