New Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook and

Eagle Coaches/Mentors Training Announced

The National Advancement Team announced its new Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook in
late October of 2011.

This new workbook must be used by all Scouts working on Eagle Scout Service Projects approved after
January 1, 2012.

Prior to that date it is recommended they use the new Workbook – it is much better than the old one. (If they have already had a project approved – they FINISH with the old Workbook).

One of the changes is that now all Eagle “Coaches” (Mentors, Guides , or whatever you call them) MUST be approved by the local Council Advancement Committee.  No one can require a Scout to have a Coach – but they are highly recommended.

It is not required that a Scout has a “Coach” – but if they choose to do so they must be from the approved list the Advancement Committee will be maintaining at the Knox Trail Office.

In order to train individuals to be Coaches we will be holding a training session for potential Coaches, Troop Advancement Chairs, Scoutmasters, etc. (not for Scouts – they should attend an upcoming Life to Eagle Seminar.)

We will review the new Workbook and information that will be given to our Scouts working on their Eagle Service Projects.

This training will be held on:

Saturday, March 3 – from 9:30am – 11:30 PM
During Merit Badge College
Western Ward LDS Church
130 Brown Street, Weston, MA

Please RSVP to me to let me know how many people are planning on attending from your Troop, Team or Crew.
